RIYADH: The Saudi Project for Landmine Clearance (Masam) in Yemen dismantled 13 anti-personnel mines, 146 anti-tank mines, 52 explosive devices and 811 unexploded ordnance 鈥� totaling 1,022 mines 鈥� during the first week of May.
A total of 164,205 mines have been extracted since the beginning of the project. More than 1.1 million mines have been planted by Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen during the conflict, claiming hundreds of civilian lives.

Houthis are developing anti-vehicle mines and turning them into antipersonnel explosives to intimidate and terrorize civilians. The vast number of land mines continues to pose a threat to Yemeni people.
